Why people are worried about Dry Eye
See what makes us different!
HAVE YOU TRIED CONTACTS AND BEEN TOLD YOU’RE TOO DRY EYED?
When a new Contact Lens wearer comes to us complaining of suffering symptoms of Dry Eye it is important to decide if they were normally dry eyed to start with or, whether for some reason, the Contacts are causing the problem.
As Specialists we are frequently consulted by patients wanting second opinions because they have found Contact Lenses difficult to master and have been told it is because they are simply too ‘Dry Eyed’. Luckily this is hardly ever the case with new wearers (for long term wearers Dry Eye may have various causes).
Just some of the reasons for Dry Eye symptoms during initial adaptation to Contacts include …
Poorly fitting lenses – perhaps too tight or too large
Lens material dries excessively compared to others available
Lenses provide insufficient Oxygen to the cornea
Adverse Solutions reactions etc.
Needless to say, unlike non-specialists who may only fit one or two lens types, with the hundreds of ‘brands’ we fit plus custom designs for the more complex we can virtually always fit the ‘new wearer’ who thinks they’re unsuitable.
If we really can’t then this is where our DRY EYE CLINIC proves invaluable.
